The principle is in the tradition of tailored products: the slit coils are made from steel of different thickness, grade or finish. The result is a tailor welded
coil just like that tailor welded blanks we have been providing to the North American market for the past 15 plus years.
Use in progressive dies
With the development of tailored coils we have opened up whole new areas of application for tailored steel solutions. Progressive dies operate direct from coil,
which is fed progressively into the forming process. Tailored coils now make the advantages of tailored products suitable for this process – to the benefit of our
customers. Automotive manufacturers are using this new technology in production today.

Product range
Tailored coils are currently available in widths of up to 2,000 mm. Our lines can weld slit coils in widths from 50 to 1,500 mm and thicknesses of 0.6 to 3.0 mm.
But the potential of tailor welded coils is far from exhausted. We are constantly working to expand our production process to meet future customer requirements.
